Position Overview:
We are looking for a passionate and skilled Inclusion Specialist to provide 1 to 1 support for a middle school student at a private school in the West Los Angeles area (20 hours per week). This role involves closely working within the school setting to adapt and modify the curriculum across all core subjects, ensuring the student's engagement and accessibility to learning materials. The specialist will collaborate with school educators to implement an effective support system that addresses the student's specific learning disabilities.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized 1 to 1 support for a middle school student, specifically tailoring educational content across core subjects.
- Collaborate with teachers to adapt teaching methodologies and materials, catering to the student's unique learning challenges.
- Regularly assess and refine educational strategies to enhance the student's learning outcomes.
- Act as a key liaison between the student, school staff, and parents, ensuring clear communication regarding the student's progress and needs.
- Advocate for a positive and inclusive educational environment, promoting the student's academic integration and social well-being.
Requirements
- A Master’s degree in Education, Special Education, or Educational Therapy, with a focus on learning disabilities.
- Residency in the Los Angeles area with the capability to commute to West Los Angeles, even during peak traffic times.
- Proven experience working with middle school students who have learning disabilities such as dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia.
- A commitment to serve in the role until June 2024.
- Successful completion of a Live Scan FBI background check and a TB test.
Location & Hours
- Westwood area
- Monday through Thursday between 8-3 (with some flexibility)
Start Date
- Looking to fill this position and begin working as soon as possible to finish 2023-2024 school year
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $75.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
