The purpose of this position is to prepare and provide food service to residents in a cost-effective, efficient manner to safely meet residents’ needs in compliance with federal, state and local requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS
o Experience in food service.

o Must be able to read and communicate clearly in English. Must be able to read and follow menus.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB (with or without assistance):
Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, pushing and pulling, fine hand coordination, ability to hear and respond to pages, ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and directions; ability to communicate with residents, families, personnel, vendors and consultants; ability to distinguish smells, tastes, and temperatures; and ability to remain calm under stress.
RESPONSIBILITIES
PM COOK RESPONSIBILITIES
o Check menu items needed for supper
o Pull items needed for supper meal according to recipe book
o Prepare deserts
o Organize super cards
o Food to be placed on steam table 30 minutes before service
o Check and document food temperatures of food. If out of range report to supervisor.
o Clean steam wells after meal
o Store, date and label leftovers
o Set up breakfast cards for next day
o Clean work area
o Remove trash and place in outside dumpster
o Assist dishwasher
o Prepare and take PM snacks to nurses station or designated area.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITES
o Prepare residents’ diets in accordance with diet orders and daily menus.
o Assist the food service supervisor to determine the amount and type of food necessary to prepare the daily menus.
o Monitor use of food to eliminate waste.
o Follow posted menus for food preparation.
o Stock food in compliance with dietary policies and procedures.
o Handle and prepare food in a sanitary manner.
o Prepare food which is palatable and appetizing in appearance.
o Keep work area clean and sanitize work surfaces after food preparation.
o Follow written menus and recipes. Understand and be able to prepare therapeutic diets.
o Be responsible for avoiding food waste.
o Assume responsibility for meeting meal schedules.
o Be responsible for care of food service equipment.
o Work cooperatively with food service staff and other departments.
o Attend in-service training programs for food service employees.
o Come to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrate dependability and punctuality.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 per hour
