- Assist students with the skills and decoding necessary to pursue their interests and aspirations
- Facilitate the delivery of career development curriculum through one-on-one and group appointments, clinics, classroom lectures and other professional development events.
- As part of the career development process, holistically serve the student with developing their professional brand, through instruction of resume writing, interviewing skills and job and internship searching.
- Ensure service excellence, soundness of practice and program metrics are achieved, and client notes recorded to impr,ove student outcomes.
- Career Education Coaches will also help decode important information, ideas and tactics to help students receive the full benefit of their career exploration and professional development while at MSU.
- As part of the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success, assist with financial literacy, arranging free tutoring, and referrals to appropriate campus services.
Student Success Advisor-Specific Duties:
- Conducting one-on-one and group appointments with students, reviewing appropriate learning strategies for students referred to the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success via referrals through the Navigate/Early Alert program, Residence Life, MSU 101, CARE team, AYCSS initiatives, as well as selfreferral by students who know they need help with pursuing their degree.
- Assist students decode important information, ideas and tactics to help students develop the skills necessary to receive the full benefit of their education.
- Provides student-facing assistance and education on learning management via workshops, strategy clinics, hosting classroom lectures, assisting with the US 103 Learning Strategies course, and group appointments.
- Serves all students and is vital to ensuring learning management instruction and support to enhance retention and degree completion in a variety of settings.
2. Experience in student advising at the post-secondary level or experience with career/professional coaching.
3. Demonstrated experience in program delivery and with a high degree of professionalism.
4. Demonstrated technical competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software & relational databases with a willingness to learn additional department and MSU specific software and programs.
5. Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced office setting.
