The Prince William County, Department of Parks and Recreation has a service portfolio which includes 81 parks and facilities spread across 5,000 acres, two waterparks, four community pools, two indoor aquatic and fitness centers, three community centers, three golf courses, 50 miles of trails, 15 historic sites, and over 200 athletic fields.
About This Role:
The primary responsibility of this role is to protect park resources and enhance the visitor experience by patrolling PWC Parks and Facilities, ensuring a safe environment for all to enjoy; address safety concerns at the level of your Park Ranger Training and work with the PWC Police Department for events of a criminal nature; provide outstanding customer service to our patrons and park visitors.
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or G.E.D. and 1 year of experience educating, directing, or dealing with the public in a professional manner.
Preferences:
- Experience in educating, directing, and dealing with the Public in a professional manner.
- Experience in Law enforcement, military, customer service, or hospitality
- Ability to pass all aspects of training that prepare Rangers for their specific duties. This will include classroom, on the job, and demonstrate the ability to adapt this training to real life scenarios.
- Ability to walk for extended periods of time, often over rough terrain.
- Must possess a valid driver's license and the ability to operate a county owned vehicle in a safe manner.
- Must pass a DPR conducted DMV records check. All hires 18 and older must pass a criminal background check, fingerprinting may be required.
- Pass initial hiring physical.
- Ability to pass mountain bike security officers operator course.
- Wear a uniform and provide a neutral appearance.
- This is a part-time position (22.5-30 hours per week). The ability to workdays, evenings, weekends and holidays is critical.
- The position is subject to change in hours on short notice.
$21.75-$23.00
