Position Summary

The part-time Parent Outreach role will support all family engagement activities through co-facilitating workshops, providing in person outreach and outreach by phone to increase numbers of parents attending activities, workshops, and services. The Parent Outreach role will collect information during outreach activities and ensure that the family voice is at the center of program activities and services by assisting to solicit other parent input. This position assists with enhancing Chicago Commons’ presence in the community and engaging prospective families and potential partners by collaborating with the Family Hub team and participating in community meetings with Family Hub staff.

Education & Certification Requirements

  • High School Diploma required

  • Bi-lingual Spanish preferred 
  • Required to speak and read English proficiently
  • Ability to manage multiple activities and outreach simultaneously 
  • Demonstrate understanding that everyone is on a unique path in achieving their goals 
  • Candidates must regularly operate a word-processing system and, therefore, must be able to read, produce and transmit data on such a system. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to work within a team and shifting priorities of the agency 
  • Intense focus on customer service.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.

Desired Outcomes

  • Increased family engagement based on the Family Hub and Family Worker activities, assessments, and workshop focus.
  • Meet deadlines and organizes outreach timelines and outcomes with staff. 

Essential Job Requirements & Duties

  • Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with coworkers, administrators and clients served. 
  • Conducts outreach in person or by phone with families to increase enrollment, attendance at activities and with services, and to assist with developing new program ideas.
  • Provide general administrative support as needed.
  • Answers service inquiries on behalf of Family Hub and connects to Intake Coordinator
  • Discusses Family Hub programs in depth with inquiring families or potential partners.
  • Provides internal administrative and organizational support for Family Hub.
  • Performs other projects and duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform.   While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and read English proficiently. The employee must regularly operate a word-processing system and therefore must be able to read, produce and transmit data on such a system. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision requirements include the ability to see at close range.
