Job Summary This position is scheduled to begin August 2024.

Instructs students from diverse backgrounds and/or cultures in a full range of emergency medical education classes with a primary focus on EMT and Paramedicine courses. Serves as a lead instructor within the Paramedicine programs primarily. Assists the EMS Programs Director in the coordination of various Paramedicine program activities inclusive but not limited to theory schedule development, lab session coordination, clinical internship coordination, field internship coordination.

Utilizes multiple methods of instruction, assessment results, and appropriate instructional technologies to engage students in learning, enhance teaching, and promote student success. The instructor may teach in traditional and accelerated programs as well as hybrid and/or online courses. Collaborates in the development and leadership of programs for students within the college and/or outside with business, industry, community, EMS agencies, and fire service agencies; collaborates in integrated public healthcare programs and activities, builds relationships with high school and university institutions in support of career/transfer pathways; facilitates activities outside the classroom for students (eg.

Undergraduate research, clubs, STEAM activities and programs, experiences for students in business/industry/community partners, etc.). Essential Functions Instructs a diverse population of students, including students in high school bridge programs in a classroom, lab, clinical, and field internship setting, online, hybrid, accelerated, and other alternative schedules and formats; uses learning centered strategies to engage students and promote student success; demonstrates innovation in teaching and learning and the scholarship of learning by focusing on student learning, retention, and achievement; incorporates instructional technology and alternative delivery or scheduling techniques, etc. Develops instructional materials and curricula; develops written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; assesses and evaluates knowledge of subject matter taught and monitors students' scholastic records; prepares and grades examinations and other learning activities; may hire and evaluate adjunct faculty; may coordinate program activities; participates in division and college assessment and program review processes; uses assessment and evaluation results to improve instruction and student learning, etc.

Maintains academic support hours to assist, tutor, and advise students to promote learning, citizenship and personal development; works with students outside of the classroom on instructional activities and projects such as clubs, undergraduate student research, STEAM activities and programs; participates in integrated public healthcare programs and activities; participates in interdisciplinary activities with MCCCD allied healthcare programs; participates in internships with business/industry/community partners; develops and cultivates relationships with high school and university institutions to develop and promote transfer pathways for students; facilitates interprofessional relationships, etc. Remains current with new trends and developments in the field through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, workshops and enhances knowledge of pedagogy related to the emergency medical services and mobile integrated health disciplines as well as pedagogy of adult learners and underprepared students; participates in college and district activities including department/division meetings, committees, workshops and projects; contributes to the academic life and mission of the college; demonstrates intercultural competence in interactions with students, staff, and the community; maintains a team approach in collaborating with faculty, staff, and students, etc. Minimum Qualifications The Occupational Teaching Fields require the following from an accredited college or university: A Master's degree in the teaching field OR A Master's degree in any field with 18 graduate credits in the teaching field OR A Master's degree in any field with a combination of 24 upper division and/or graduate credits in the teaching field (Upper-division courses are Junior and Senior level courses in obtaining a Bachelor's degree) OR A Bachelor's degree and three years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR Five years of occupational experience in the field to be taught OR A Journeyman certification in the field to be taught Desired Qualifications Associates Degree from an accredited college/university or higher needed to meet CAAHEP/CoAEMSP Lead Faculty educational requirements.

Three (3) or more years' experience teaching in a CAAHEP/CoAEMSP accredited Paramedicine program. Current (AHA) American Heart Association BLS, ACLS & PALS Instructor credential in good standing. Current (NAEMT) National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians AMLS & PHTLS Instructor credential in good standing.

Current (AAP) American Association of Pediatrics PEPP Instructor credential in good standing. Recent work experience as a Paramedic and/or Registered Nurse in the clinical and/or pre-hospital care settings. Experience serving as Program Director in EMT/EMS/Paramedicine education.

Experience serving as a National Registry of EMT's Psychomotor Site Coordinator Experience serving as an EMS, Clinical or Field Internship Coordinator within an EMS organization Experience implementing and monitoring measures to maintain compliance with regulatory and accreditation policies and requirements of federal, state, and local agencies, including AZBTEMS, CoAEMSP or CAAHEP Special Working Conditions May teach at MCC Downtown Center, Red Mountain and Dobson & Southern campuses. May be required to travel to other off-site locations or MCCCD locations. May be required to teach evening, weekend, hybrid, in-person, and/or synchronous on-line classes on based upon the needs of the Allied Health Department.

May require prolonged periods of time; viewing a computer monitor. May be required to lift or carry up to 50lbs. Local travel required.

Additional Requirements Currently hold in good standing a National Registry of EMT's Paramedic certification, or Arizona State EMS certification/license as a Paramedic OR Licensed as a Registered Nurse, Physician Assistant or Medical Doctor/DO in the State of Arizona. Must meet Maricopa Community Colleges Allied Health Policies, immunization, drug screen, and other related requirements to precept students in the clinical and field internship settings. Required to obtain a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card and pass a MCCCD comprehensive background screening check Must have current, good standing American Heart Association (AHA) BLS, ACLS, PALS instructor credentials Additional credentials as a National Association of EMT's (NAEMT) Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS) and PreHospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) Instructor is preferred Additional credentials as a American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) PEPP Instructor is preferred Posting Close Date Apply on or before January 20, 2024 to be considered.
