Job Description
Tri-Community South (TCS) EMS is currently seeking Part-Time Paramedics.
- Possess a current certificate as an Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic (EMT-P) in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- Be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.
- Possess and maintain a valid Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Operators License.
- Demonstrate the ability to lift with a partner of equal size a 175 lb. person and carry them up and down a flight of stairs.
- Ability to abide by all regulations/recommendations of CDC in workplace regarding COVID, this includes the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment.
BACKGROUND
The applicant must provide verification of the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum one-year experience with Medical Command preferred.
- Current certification as an EMT-Paramedic in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
- EMSVO certified.
- Health Care Provider Card.
- ACLS and PALS Provider Card.
- Driver’s License.
- State Criminal History Report.
- Child Abuse Clearance Report.
- Federal Criminal History Report.
- Up-To-Date Con Ed Report.
- Personal Vehicle Insurance.
- Up-To-Date Continuing Education Report.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, speak, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel or crouch.
- The employee must lift and move more than 100 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job included close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderately noisy.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
- Abide by work schedules provided by the System.
- EMS provides coverage 24 hrs./365 days a year, including in times of disasters and catastrophic events.
- Ensure compliance with Standard Operating Guidelines for uniform and dress code when the employee is representing Tri-Community South EMS.
- Respond to all requests for an ambulance from dispatcher/dispatch center. Institute emergency medical care when necessary, according to the level of care indicated by the Department of Health of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and scope of practice.
- Monitor all police/EMS radio communications during working shift assignment.
- Learn and operate all equipment stocked in every emergency vehicle/response car belonging to Tri-Community South EMS to level of certification.
- Request assistance of additional emergency medical personnel, fire, and police according to the Standard Operating Procedure Guidelines as needed.
- Communicate vital medical information pertinent to the patient to the receiving emergency medical facility using the appropriate communications. Complete all medical records with all necessary information.
- Complete all special report documents as specified in the Standard Operating Guidelines (i.e., crime scene reports, auto loss reports, on-job injury reports, equipment loss/damage reports, etc.).
- Stock and maintain vehicle according to the Standard Operating Guidelines and vehicle check list.
- Protect patients’ valuables and individual rights regarding confidentiality. Ensure HIPPA compliance for protected information. Properly document any personal/valuables that were transported in medical documentation.
- Participate in the continuing education program of the System.
- Participate in specific committees, i.e.: Safety Committee, QA/QI Committee.
- Maintain all requirements of the Tri-Community South Medical Director to continue to function at the level of Emergency Medical Technician - Paramedic.
- Complete details assigned related to System operations.
- Participate in public relations, committees, and project assignments.
- Accept the direction of the experienced Advance Life Support staff, Supervisor, Director, and the Administrative Committee.
LINE OF AUTHORITY
It is the understanding that should any problems occur relating to the operations of Tri-Community South EMS policies and procedures and the employee needs counsel, he/she shall contact the Supervisor immediately, then the Director and then the Administrative Committee.
SELECTION CRITERIA
Formal application, rating of education and experience, oral interview, and reference check; job- related tests, passage of drug and alcohol testing pre-employment. Pass all background checks and possess all required documentation, at time of hire.
