Paramedic - Ground Transportation

MAJOR FUNCTION : The Mobile Intensive Care Unit (MICU) Paramedic provides prehospital Advanced Life Support to victims of sudden illness or injury in the designated service areas of the EMS system and provides appropriate mutual aid assistance when requested by adjacent ALS services. The ALS Paramedic demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to patients of all ages, inclusive of neonates, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults and geriatrics in the ALS and Critical Care environments. Additionally, the ALS Paramedic demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possesses the ability to access data reflective of the patient's status, and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirement relative to his or her age-specific needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Education High School Diploma or equivalent required. Must possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Associates Degree or higher.

1. Experience: 1-3 Years work experience preferred
2. Certification/Licensure: The employee must hold NJ paramedic certification,
   as recognized by the New Jersey State Department of Health, Office of Emergency Medical Services.
   This includes a certified paramedic as indicated in N.J.A.C. Chapter 41. Additionally, the employee will maintain certification: Basic Life Support (AHA Only) required, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA Only) required, Pediatric Advanced Life Support required. Certification in Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support or International Trauma Life Support is preferred.
