The Paramedic is responsible for providing medical care to our patients under the supervision of a Physician/PA/NP in an urgent care setting.
(Orlando, East Orlando, Lake Mary locations)
- Evaluate symptoms, reactions, and progress of patients by maintaining close contact with them.
- Assist in patient education.
- Assist the physician during the treatment and examination of the patient.
- Administer medication and treatments as ordered by the physician
NOTE: Operating hours are 3:30 pm- Midnight weekdays, and 11:30 am-Midnight weekends.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Supervision includes triaging and taking history utilizing EMR.
- Document all phone recommendations to patients.
- Input prescriptions as ordered and written by the physician.
- Submit timely through sure scripts if available.
- Make appointments for patients as ordered by the physician.
- Retrieve or accept the results of the test.
- Notify patients of abnormal lab results.
- Make medical judgments as needed in collaboration with the physician/NP/PA.
- Verifies that the nurse's station and exam rooms are stocked.
- Facilitate patient flow. (Throughput)
- Follow up on patients with missed appointments where the welfare of the patient requires immediate medical attention or follow-up.
- Reports communicable diseases to infection control agencies as required.
- Administer medications including injections.
- Start IVs give updraft treatments
- Assist with suturing, casting, etc.
- Take the patient's temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and weight, and records the results on the patient’s chart.
- Performs venipuncture as ordered by the physician.
- Prepare specimens and requisitions for reference laboratory
- Perform and run laboratory tests as ordered by the physician and follow proper laboratory and office policies to comply with office policy & procedure for OSHA/HIPPA standard
- Ensure nursing staff complies with OSHA/HIPPA policies & procedures.
- Keep track of inventory control on the computer
- Order medical, laboratory, and radiology supplies on a routine basis and keep a good inventory of consumables.
- Perform and documents QC and QA in a timely manner
- Compile with CLIA/COLA policies & procedures.
- Startup lab daily i.e. CBC machine, I-STAT machine.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
A graduate of an accredited school of Paramedic and currently registered with the State Board.
Medical office with Emergency Room experience preferred.
Licensure:
- Has annual certification in Basic Life Support.
- State License

*Work environment*
- Considered second / evening shift and every other weekend
- Hours 3:30 pm-midnight weekday and 11:30 am-midnight weekends
- Full time based on 36 hours per week - must be willing to work rotating weekends

- May require overtime (minimal) depending upon patient volume and clinic needs
