Job description

About the firm:

Waypoint Immigration USA is a business immigration firm focused on providing comprehensive legal services to individual employees and their families in the United States. We do not represent companies, only individuals. For decades, the business immigration sector has been dominated by corporate firms that control individuals’ immigration processes. Employees often do not have access to personal legal counsel in these employer-driven arrangements. We believe that every immigrant deserves to have their own representation to ensure their interests are advanced. There is no substitute for having an attorney advocating solely for the individual in the complex world of immigration law. As a rapidly growing firm ready to expand into this underserved market, we seek experienced and knowledgeable employees who love our mission, are ready to jump into employee-side representation fully, and want to help individual immigrants achieve their dreams. We expect growth opportunities to be abundant in the upcoming years. Come join our team at this exciting time!

The normal job duties you will perform:

We are seeking an experienced paralegal or law student (law clerk) with experience in EB-1A and O-1 petitions, who is willing to do deep work in drafting letters and briefs and searching out documents to improve case filings. The ideal candidate will have experience improving cases at every step of the process and pushing them through to strong finished products. This is a detail oriented, deep thought role supported by knowledgeable attorneys to help guide strategy and an administrative team to help manage the printing/finalization of files.

Duties include:

· Serve as the owner of the documentation process for EB-1A and O-1 filings

· Create and continually build document filing packages to ensure the submission of strong petitions using cloud file tools and Adobe Acrobat

· Perform factual and legal research, and write summaries and letters based on that research

· Parse through documents to identify the most important information

· Create work plans and strategies for successful case preparation, including custom checklists and internal forms

· Draft legal documents, letters, and forms independently as needed, on a scattered basis

· Follow up with clients via email to ensure a seamless client experience while immigration petitions are prepared

· Maintain client records and track important dates

· Build a system of templates for standardized communications and case flows

· Build legal knowledge and maintain deep expertise in EB1A and O1 standards

· Other duties as assigned

The skills and experience that we are looking for:

· A bachelor's degree in English, Legal Studies, or a writing intensive field

· At least 2 years of experience as a Paralegal, Legal Writer, or Law Clerk in drafting and assembling documents for EB1A filings (Note: This is required experience for this specific position. Please look for other job openings if you do not have this experience!)

· Able to work independently without on-site supervision

· Able to prioritize and manage tasks independently

· Meet our firm’s standard technology skill requirements for all employees:

o Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or similar/equivalent software

o Proficient in Adobe Acrobat or similar pdf editing software

o Proficient at internet research for information and answers

o Familiar with cloud file storage software such as Dropbox, Google Drive, or similar

o Familiar with SharePoint or collaborative spreadsheets/files

o Able to type at a reasonable speed with minimal errors
