While reporting to the General Counsel, the Corporate Paralegal will have the unique experience to touch upon many different areas of law: contract creation/review, employment, employee safety, IP, collections/liens, litigation, insurance/claims, and risk management.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Researching and analyzing law sources such as statutes, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles, treaties, constitutions, and legal codes.
- Editing drafted communications, policies, processes, etc.
- Collecting and preparing responses to requests for production and interrogatories.
- Interviewing and following up with internal employees, especially regarding reporting on risk (work comp/auto accident).
- Preparing legal documents such as briefs, pleadings, appeals, contracts, initial and amended articles of incorporation, stock certificates and other securities, buy-sell agreements, closing papers and binders, deeds, and trust instruments for review, approval, and use by VP, general counsel, etc.
- Investigating facts and law of case to determine causes of action and to prepare case accordingly.
- Performing other clerical duties such as scheduling appointments, providing information to callers, taking dictation, composing and typing routine correspondence, and reading and routing incoming mail, administrative data keeping, etc.
- Preparing affidavits of documents and maintaining document file(s) while ensuring proper indexing and filing of original legal documents.
- Electronically file correspondence and legal documents using SmartSheet/office system.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 2 years as a Corporate Paralegal
- Currently pursuing a degree in the field of law or similar.
- GPA 3.0 or higher.
Preferred Qualifications
- Related experience.
Compensation: $23/hour
Schedule
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8 hours daily, between 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
