These are due to a severe medical condition and/or physical limitations (e.g., toileting, feeding, dressing, suctioning, feeding, etc.) for the purpose of allowing students to function in a school environmentEvaluating the specific needs/problems of students for the purpose of creating equipment and/or aids to meet their special needsImplement, under direction, behavioral plans developed by a team consisting of parent and school personnel for the purpose of assisting students in modifying behaviors that are in conflict with a positive academic and social environmentMaintaining classroom and student equipment for the purpose of ensuring a safe environmentTransferring/lifting students for the purpose of assisting them in performing their daily activitiesAssist students with various physical, emotional and educational needs adhering to guidelines of student I.E.P with appropriate doucmentation for activities of daily living for reimbursement of services for Medicaid in the Public Schools.If you provide reimbursable Medicaid related services (Activities of Daily Living) you are required to appropriately bill for said services daily and/or weekly in DSCtop.Medicaid service providers are required to be certified in CPR/First Aid (offered by District), and participate in Random Moment Time Study surveys.Assist in educational demonstrations for the class or small groupProvide special instructional help to specific studentsAdministering immediate basic first aid and medical assistance for the purpose of providing appropriate care for ill, medically fragile, and/or injured studentsAssist with assessments, grading papers and completing records under the supervision of the certified teacherDistribute and collect workbooks, papers and other materials for instructionCopy, collate and file worksheets and requested documentsDevelop and create bulletin boards, signs, borders and classroom displaysOperate and care for equipment used for instructional purposesAssist with the supervision of students during emergency drills, assemblies, play periods, lunch periods and field tripsAlert the teacher to any problem or special information about a studentParticipate in meetings and in service training as required for the purpose of sharing information and/or improving knowledge and skills beneficial to assisting in the classroomMaintain the confidentiality of protected student and staff member information even after no longer employedBe flexible and perform other duties relating to general job function as assigned by supervisorAccept responsibility for students well being and safety while they are in employee's careBe alert to and reporting the possibility of any substance use, child abuse, or dangerous situation based upon daily observationAssist in the maintenance of a quiet and orderly classroom environmentOperate and care for school district's equipment properlyFollow district policies as outlinedPerform all duties in a safe and prudent manner as directed by supervisors Core Values/Professional QualitiesRespond to all internal and external customers, as it relates to position, in a prompt, efficient, friendly and patient mannerFunction effectively as a team memberBe responsible, reliable and punctualBe flexible and adaptable to changePositively accepting directionEstablish and maintain courteous, cooperative working relationships with students, staff and parentsDirect constructive criticism toward improving the districtExercise positive problem solving behavior and conflict resolution skillsAdhere to the dress code appropriate to the site and jobShare sensitive student and staff information on a need to know basisBe a positive role model for studentsWork with a large cross section of people in a professional and non-judgmental manner Physical Requirements - Working with Students with Special NeedsPositions in this classification typically require: stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting, finger or manual dexterity, repetitive finger motion, speaking, hearing, seeing (with correction), focusing ability, or other factors applicable for the job.

Employees may be subject to travel, odors, dusts, poor ventilation, workspace restrictions, bloodborne pathogens, and loud noises. Employees may be required to lift or exert up to 50 pounds of force to move objects occasionally, up to 20 pounds of force to move objects frequently, and up to 10 pounds of force to move objects constantly.
