Job description

Responsible for sales, appearance, and overall operations of store’s Paint Department. Objectives are to show consistent sales growth, ensure department projects proper O’Reilly image, operates as a profit center, and follow policies and procedures aimed at ensuring company operates as economically and efficiently as possible.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Maximize sales by directing team members in a manner that provides walk-in and installer/PBE customers with prompt, courteous, and professional service. (Call schedule for all installer/PBE customers must be implemented by manager with call schedule and call summary submitted monthly for review by the district manager).

Supervise work performed by all team members assigned to his/her department and work jointly with store/district manager in recruiting, testing, hiring, evaluating, promoting, disciplining, and discharging of team members under his/her supervision.

Work with Sales and Pricing Departments (with assistance of store/district manager) in establishing VIP prices for installers/PBE customers and appropriate walk-in pricing. Pricing should be customized so the department/store is competitive, but as profitable as possible. Responsible for maximizing gross profit on outside purchases.

Schedule proper amount of help (neither too much nor too little) to ensure customers receive best service, department appearance is maintained, and department is profitable. Must help store manager complete a monthly work schedule, which shows team member hours, vacation schedules, upcoming holiday schedules, etc. Schedule is to be monitored daily, with changes made as necessary to records kept are accurate. Ensure that all team members are clocking in/out according to company policy. Must help store manager ensure store dollar sales per team member and payroll percentage figures are kept within guidelines set by store, district, and regional manager.

Accumulate "hours worked," review daily for accuracy, and work with store manager to approve and submit to Accounting Department as scheduled according to the procedures covered in Section 1296 of the Store Operations Manual.

Improve the skills of all team members under his/her supervision through training on company policies and procedures, customer service and customer service programs, computer operations, catalogs, and sales.

Assist district and store manager with team member performance evaluations. Pay increases are based on each individual’s job performance as it relates to the store/department sales growth and payroll figures.

Ensure department is organized and operating according to all company policies and procedures.

Work with store manager to ensure information, pertinent to stores, contained in the Team Weekly, Price Change Bulletins, and monthly Store Managers’ Meetings, is communicated to all team members.

Implement all planogram changes and merchandising plans as outlined in the Team Weekly. This includes sales preparations, seasonal displays, price updates, inventory adjustments, etc. Current planograms are kept in the OFM planogram book. Department appearance and general cleanliness are the responsibility of the Department Supervisor.

SKILLS/EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/ABILITIES

Required:

Sales Specialist Training, Paint Specialist Training. Strong communication skills, verbal and written. Positive interaction with people. Must be organized and able to set priorities and manage time. Knowledge of automotive paint, equipment and systems.
