Paid Summer Intern

Job Description: Guys and Dollies is looking for multiple students with an entrepreneurial spirit interested in learning how to operate a small business through hands-on experience. As a member of our team, you will assist with the management and operations of storage, shipping, and moving activities between May and August. Interns will learn to become crew leaders and managers by working with small teams to complete appointments and assist in warehouse operations. You will work directly with top-level managers to develop management and communication skills and will gain experience in logistics and customer service. Scheduling is flexible with the seasonality of the business, with prior interns averaging between 30-40 hours per week from May to August.

We were founded in 2006, and are headquartered in Bloomington, Indiana, but operate at multiple universities. We strive to hold our customers’ hands and guide them through the storage and shipping process. Our business is extremely seasonal and defined by the academic school year making it a great fit for students looking for Summer Internships.

About the Role: This position requires daily availability throughout the summer months, so we are seeking students who plan to be in the Bloomington area throughout the summer, including Welcome Week in August. Interns will be working daily to complete appointments for customers, as well as implementing our organization plan within the warehouse. This position may be physically demanding, and while you will never be asked to do things beyond your physical limits, you will be required to frequently lift moderately heavy items and will be on your feet for long periods of time.

What Are We Looking For: You will be working directly with customers at scheduled appointments, so applicants should be punctual, dependable, and friendly. Because you will be interacting directly with customers and their belongings, applicants should be encouraging, thoughtful, and have a positive attitude. During the beginning and end of the summer, you will be subject to a fast-paced environment, so we are looking for individuals who are prepared to work quickly and efficiently while remaining calm and focused.

Wage and Benefits: $16/hr + Overtime pay + significant tips. A seasonal bonus may also be available depending on responsibilities and performance. Interns are also entitled to $250 in free storage for the summer months. During the busiest periods (finals week and welcome week), you will also be provided with meals. Class credit is also available to students who need to satisfy certain academic requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

• High-school diploma or equivalent
• Must be physically capable of lifting at least 40 lbs and walking multiple hours
• A vehicle is not required, but you must be able to reliably get to work on the south side of Bloomington
