SouthCoast Health is looking for an Experienced PACS Administrator

Under general supervision, the PACS Administrator works within the Radiology department and is responsible for managing workflow from the service point and communicating with providers, imaging department leadership as well as IT. In collaboration with end-users designs and modifies business rules in software applications to support organizational needs; design, build, test, debug and install application systems; works closely with vendor and information technology staff to install, configure, secure, and upgrade all imaging information systems. Primary job function will be with the PACS systems and its integration points to various supporting components.

Responsibilities:

  • Daily operation of the Picture Archiving and Communications (PACS) Systems and equipment.
  • Analyzes business and clinical processes and data to identify opportunities and improve existing processes using information technology.
  • Works closely with modalities, managers and imaging staff to ensure timely and complete capture of DICOM digital data into the PACS system.
  • Maintain and utilize the established auditing and tracking tools.
  • Assists in coordinating special projects, including updates and upgrades system installation, backup, maintenance and problem solving with imaging network and systems.
  • Assists in installing, designing, configuring and maintaining system hardware and software. (PACS, RIS, VNA, Document Management, MModal/Fluency & Digital One).
  • Analyzes and troubleshoots systems issues, maintain logs and tracks the nature and resolution of problems.
  • Resolves problems reported by end users via SouthCoast Health IT help desk for local and wide area networks, personal computers, networking equipment and provides answers to complex questions related to these systems.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to exercise professionalism in dealing with all levels of personnel. Communicate effectively in user-friendly terms verbally and in writing. Solve issues and work independently.
  • Knowledge of PACS, HL7, Windows operating systems, MS Office suite of productivity tools (ie. Word, Excel, Access, SQL) databases, hardware (ie. PC, sever) and software.
  • Knowledge of medium-sized to large-sized networks.
  • Knowledge of customer service concepts.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Ability to deal with many tasks at one time with flexibility.

Education/ Experience:

Bachelor's degree; preferred PACS Certification/Degree. Four years' experience in the related field with two or more years of PACS clinical or technical experience. Also, a working knowledge of DICOM and HL7 messaging, computer systems, network infrastructure and Radiology Department workflow in a medium-sized to large-sized healthcare network; a combination of education and experience will be considered.
