AST is seeking a dynamic technician to join our family! They will be an integral part of our growing team and will support new product launches including but not limited to ensuring all technical aspects from specification creation, component selection, documentation upkeep, instill regular communication with vendor partners, etc. are conforming to the AST process. The technician will be responsible for working with internal and external cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution of tasks. The right candidate must have the ability to adapt to fast-changing environments, have passion for packaging, and approach work with a positive and proactive attitude, embracing the culture of the AST Family.

Roles & Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
Primary & Secondary Packaging Development
- Learn and understand primary and secondary packaging and be able to recommend use internally and externally as needed
- Perform necessary technical evaluations and tasks in order to support product launch and troubleshoot stability/compatibility testing
- Coordinate standards and specifications to relevant departments
- Manage submission and approvals of color matching and designs for the primary package
- Support product technical transfers by understanding prior customer specifications and translating it successfully into AST’s format
Project Management
- Ability to independently handle multiple projects simultaneously and at different development stages
- Recommend and track all packaging used during the project development timeline.
- Be able to identify powder and non-powder systems
- Understand different propellant/solvent systems in how it interacts with different packages
- Request samples as needed to support commercial team
- Manage Value Analysis projects (supplier changes, color/finish/texture changes, etc.)
Packaging Creation/Specifications
- Create and/or revise component specifications and route internally and externally for approvals
- Able to review vendor drawings and understand all relevant information to approve or replicate component
- Request and create internal part numbers to allow item setup into ERP system
Bill of Materials (BOM)
- Review BOMs for accuracy and formatting
- Review R&I testing documentation to ensure packaging meets acceptable criteria for market launch
- Be able to engage with Quality personnel on any production issues and customer complaints to evaluate data and perform tests when needed
Qualifications & Skills:
- Aerosol packaging knowledge preferred but not required, interest is required
- Bachelor's degree in a related field; or equivalent experience preferred
- Very organized with the ability to multi-task across many ongoing projects
- Must possess excellent computer & communication skills (verbal & written)
- Must be proactive, strives to meet deadlines, and remain customer-focused
- Must be able to initiate and resolve internal and external inquiries in a timely manner, and communicate/escalate when appropriate
- Must be detail-oriented
