Packaging and Processing Operator

The Packaging and Processing Operator, under general supervision, is responsible for the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of both packaging and processing machinery.

2nd and 3rd shift openings

Pay Ranges from $19.50 to $22.50 depending on experience

Must be able to work a rotating schedule (8 hour shifts)

Essential Job Duties:

Reads production schedules and plans accordingly.

Efficiently maintains the operation of packaging machinery by monitoring codes, dates, and prices.

Ensures an adequate supply of roll stock and all packaging materials for each machine.

Adjusts machine micrologic setup to maintain efficiency and minimize waste.

Demonstrates proficiency in operating packaging equipment, including setups, changeovers, running, adjustments, sanitation, and shutdown.

Plans and executes machine changeovers efficiently.

Monitors and adjusts each machine to ensure proper film cut-off and seal integrity.

Maintains standard machine speeds and monitors product quality.

Accounts for and handles product runoff effectively.

Maintains cleanliness of machines and work areas and reports maintenance issues promptly.

May provide leadership to packers and perform other technical positions as qualified.

Monitors seasoning application if applicable.

Primary Responsibilities:

Operates processing equipment within established quality guidelines.

Prepares ingredients, monitors temperature/moisture, and adjusts as necessary.

Operates and maintains processing equipment according to procedures, including changeovers and maintenance.

Communicates quality issues to appropriate team members.

Follows batch sheets, recipes, and accurately weighs raw materials.

Monitors and logs various parameters and makes adjustments as needed.

Ensures product integrity and monitors for foreign matter.

Follows sanitation procedures and handles chemicals safely.

Manages waste disposal and maintains inventory levels.

Handles raw materials using material handling equipment.

Maintains inventory usage and disposal of equipment parts.

Manages oil levels and performs maintenance on processing equipment.

Maintains an understanding of heat exchanger systems.

Practices safety and hygiene guidelines, including 5S principles and personal protection.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

Effective communication with team members and management.

Ability to perform all job functions within the department.

Completion of required training and examinations.

This combined description encompasses the responsibilities and requirements of both Packaging Machine Operator and Job Processing Operator roles.
