RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Packaging Engineer will be responsible for providing direction, coordination, and follow-up for all aspects of containers for the plant, Launch and current program. Work involves a considerable amount of perception and initiative to make decisions. The selected candidate will provide Packaging Engineering support to operations and lead cross-functional teams on significant projects to improve processes that affect Quality, Productivity, and Cost.
- Interact with Global Supply Chain, Containerization, Quality, Operations, Logistics, Controls engineering, and supplier(s)
- Analyzes existing operations and proposes cost justified improvements
- Identify and coordinate implementation of density improvements
- Manage buy-off processes with all affected parties within the plant for new and modified containers
- Responsibility for leading Short-Lead Time initiatives that pertain to packaging
- Responsibility for supplier shipping label compliance
- Oversee management of container loops for all returnable containers
- 1+ years of packaging engineer experience
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time, with ability to meet project timelines
- Relatively high level of analytical ability where problems are complex
- Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes
The Manufacturing Optimization Material Engineer is a unique opportunity to influence the way we as General Motors operate material flow in our assembly plants and lead the factory of future material flow implementation. Your mission is to implement material strategies & automation projects, develop business cases and implement the changes that will result in the improvement of manufacturing processes and/or product quality, improve part delivery accuracy, and reduce overall cost of material handling.
Additional Job Description
- Develop and implement work measurement, line balance, ergonomics processes, simulation for manufacturing optimization projects across the facility.
- Develop/revise operational plans Standardized work revisions, ULOC/DLOC, CMA Coordination
- Manage Facility layouts, working closely with all facets of the plant to coordinate, create, review, and maintain all plant auto cad layouts -ensuring layout efficiency as well as future space protection. (preferred)
- Develop material delivery and non-conforming materials strategies for all projects
- Develop container plans, plan for every part (PFEP)
- Complete project plan reviews with the local production management teams for future implementations. Understand local contractual considerations for all projects.
- Optimize sequence of operations and workflow.
- Work with cross-functional teams to conceptualize, design, and execute automation programs and processes that improve supply chain, warehousing, and material flow.
- Demonstrate knowledge of LMS principles and drive future materials implementations.
The role will include relocation benefit for candidate that lives 50 or more miles from location. This role is categorized as onsite.
