Job Description:

Purpose:

The Packaging Engineerrole will provide packaging support throughout the full lifecycle of all Kichler products. Responsibilities include new product packaging development and validation, packaging optimization for existing products, sustainable packaging strategies and execution, documentation, and shipping support.

The ideal candidate will reside within a commutable distance to the Solon, Ohio office.

Responsibilities:

New Product Packaging Development and Validation:

  • Lead packaging efforts with program team within the Kichler NPI process.
  • Generate and implement packaging proposals to ensure most cost-effective options that meet Kichler performance standards.
  • Validate packaging proposals with industry standard tests. Communicate results and corrective actions to project team and suppliers.
  • Lead the packaging data input and updates in Kichler PLM (Propel)

Packaging Optimization and Sustainability:

  • Implement strategies to optimize packaging for current products. Examples of optimization include reduction of costs/materials, increased performance, etc.
  • Drive sustainable packaging strategies to support Kichler customers, governmental compliance & regulations, and company initiatives.
  • Lead incremental growth of sustainable packaging options with Kichler supply base.

Other:

  • Maintain strong knowledge base of packaging trends, materials, compliance & regulatory updates.
  • Represent Kichler within packaging industry and regulatory bodies.
  • Support Masco headquarters and other business units with overall company packaging strategies.
  • Support Kichler Solon facility (in-person) in the successful shipment of product samples and hardware.
  • International travel 10% or less

Education & Experience:

  • Packaging Engineering Degree from accredited institution or > 5 years applicable Packaging Engineering experience.
  • Professional work experience in Consumer Packaged Goods.
  • Background in 3D and 2D CAD preferred.
  • Self-starter and able to work under general project direction
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Able to balance multiple projects concurrently and function in a collaborative Global environment
  • Shown understanding or basic manufacturing and fabrication methods preferred, e.g. die casting, injection molding, extrusion, product assembly, etc.

Hiring Range: $72,300.00 - $113,630.00 Actual compensation may vary based on various factors including experience, education, geographic location, and/or skills.
