The Human Resources Specialist provides expertise and focus in the areas of payroll, benefits/401K, billing. workers compensation, administrative components of hiring, workplace policies, safety and employee engagement. This position reports to the Human Resource Manager and hourly non-exempt position.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Onboarding the candidates ensuring they are being trained in accordance to the company's compliance and employment policies.
- Possesses a keen eye for talent and ensures a good dynamic between the candidates and the management
- Involved in looking after the employee s payroll and keeping a track of it along with handling employee benefits, performance management, and employee development
- Continually guide the employees over the company s policies i.e. dress code, PTO s and additional benefits.
- Promote a positive and open work environment where employees feel comfortable speaking up about issues.
- Understand and adhere to all pertinent labor laws.
- Schedules and coordinates all steps in new hire process, including but not limited to: job postings, travel arrangements, interview, drug testing, new hire paperwork, etc.
- Makes travel arrangements for corporate executives and visiting contractors.
- Organizes employee appreciation events
- Works with supervisors to compile & publish weekly labor pool lists, Union bid postings, etc.
- Coordinates employee database, including pictures and biometric registrations.
- Assist Mill employees as needed.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (like Human Resources, business or human relations). or equivalent
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Prefer experience with PAYCOM
SKILLS REQUIREMENTS
- Proven record of having an experience of 3-4 years within the HR field
- Skilled in using software and recruiting platform such as Indeed, Monster, Dice, Bullhorn and ZipRecruiter.
- Exceptional problem solving and communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills.
- Deep understanding and adhering of labor statistics and labor laws.
- Developing and implementing strong talent sourcing and acquisition technique.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Wear personal protective equipment as required
- Work in the Mill HR office
- May have exposure to outdoor elements when traveling between facilities
