Downtown Dogs, a San Jose canine activity center is currently seeking qualified individuals for an OVERNIGHT POSITION working directly with dogs. You must have experience working overnight hours to apply. Applicants must be sincere dog lovers, who can deal with hard work, are highly dependable, and don't mind getting dirty. We are looking for new staff members to take on approximately 16-32 hours per week. These are permanent part-time positions (not seasonal or temporary).
We are currently hiring for:
Overnight Shifts: 10:30pm - 6:30am
Friday, Saturday, Sunday will possibility for an additional shift during the week
Job Description
Overnight shift works directly with the dogs 1-2 hours, actively engaging with the dogs, taking out for potty breaks and monitoring all dog activities. The remainder of the shift is spent cleaning the facility to get it ready for the next day.
Be prepared to:
* Be on your feet, active, and attentive all of your shift
* Get dirty (If you're disgusted by bodily fluids, this is not the job for you)
* Learn a ton about dogs and enjoy interacting with all the pups
*Use floor scrubber and vacuum to clean play room floors
*Laundry
*Clean restrooms, kitchen area
Other duties include: General cleaning and assisting with boarding dogs.
Requirements
Must love dogs!!! If you're not crazy about the pooches, you will hate this job. Must have previous experience working the overnight shift. This is not a job for everyone! Working with dogs can be (at times) exhausting, disgusting and overwhelming. Working the overnight shift care be exhausting and overwhelming as well. Previous dog handling experience (Vet Tech, Grooming, Kennel) is a big plus.
- Be able to lift 50 lbs. and expect to be physically active for your entire shift.
- You should be able to work equally well either independently or as a team. Along with a strong work ethic and physical stamina, you must be responsible, honest, patient, prompt, and very dependable.
- You must possess good written and verbal communication skills, a sense of humor, and most importantly, a positive attitude.
