This position covering the Sacramento territory and home base is out of the Merchants Metals, Sacramento.
Position Summary:
Merchants Metals is seeking to hire a seasoned salesperson to grow and manage a sales territory. S/he will help to identify opportunities to increase sales in an assigned customer base and prospect for new customers. The Outside Sales Representative will report to a Branch Manager, and work closely with personnel in the branch and across the organization.
Role Objectives:
- Drive sales in assigned customers by deepening relationships and delivering value in scheduled and unscheduled meetings at customer locations.
- Identify, qualify, and close prospects that fit the company's ideal customer profile.
- Support assigned customers, individually and with other branch roles, by providing outstanding service, quoting and completing orders, when appropriate

Accurately record all interactions with prospects and evaluate for fit to FSG

Assess the competitive landscape in your territory and prioritize effort.

Identify key account decision makers and influencers.
Set account objectives and develop a plan to achieve them
Call Planning
Prepare for each call, anticipating and addressing any barriers.
Prepare questions, materials, and insights to move customers towards objective
Opportunity Management
Distinguish FSG's offering and value from that of competitors.
Understand price/value relationship.
Effectively close deals while ensuring mutual value and driving GP growth
Value Proposition Delivery
Manage accounts to continually improve profitability and growth, reinforce value delivered.
Prepare compelling summaries of value delivered to customers.
Conduct conversations with the customer to understand their point of view
Service, Support, & Processing
React to any customer concerns or requests.
Personally provide appropriate level of service to the customer
Process quotes and order using good judgement
Internal Operational Coordination
Coordinate internally to fully service customers.
Understand internal capabilities.
Build and maintain a strong internal network
Industry & Business Knowledge
Understand key concepts and terminology used in the fencing industry.
Work to improve their own expertise and mentor others.
Use knowledge to serve as an advisor to the customer
Relationship Management
Work to build strong, personal, and professional relationships with customers.
Use these relationships to develop business opportunities
Requirements
The successful candidate must have the following experience and capabilities:
- A desire to drive aggressive growth and hit sales targets, with a demonstrated track record of doing so
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
- 2-4 years proven experience as an Outside Sales Representative, or in other sales/customer service role.
- Ability to travel as needed, typically required 50% to 75% week (mostly in REGION, within few hours' drive)
