Job description

The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics department of Rehabilitation Therapist is seeking an Occupational Therapist to administer treatment to patients with complex physical and cognitive dysfunctions, disorders and/or injuries and evaluate and interpret findings. This position will primarily be assigned to the

outpatient setting.

  •  

    Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment, and treatment appropriate for patient's needs. Assignment will involve working with patients with complex neurological and musculoskeletal conditions.
  • Evaluate and instruct patients in home treatment programs.
  •   Perform routine and assigned administrative tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Participate in divisional quality/process improvement activities and recommend opportunities for improvement in service quality.
  • Attend and participate in educational programs and provide educational experiences as assigned.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.
  • Performs special projects and tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications: 

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy is required
  • Entry level experience in occupational therapy in an outpatient setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required

Licenses/ Certifications:

  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required

Desirable Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in Occupational Therapy
  •   1-3 years of experience in evaluation and rehabilitation of neurological patients including ALS, Parkinson's, Huntington's, stroke, and other general dysfunctions.
  • 1-3 years of experience in evaluation and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal disorders.
  • Ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a work or academic setting.
