While problem gambling may not present some of the physical health issues we see with drugs and alcohol, it can be just as devastating. Our Gambling Treatment Counselors work to spread awareness in the community about our gambling programs, and to treat those seeking treatment for Gambling Addiction.
We are currently seeking candidates for our Gambling Addiction Counselor position in Des Moines, IA. If you want to be part of a dynamic team of counselors dedicated to helping those suffering from a variety of addiction issues, we invite you to apply!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conducts individual assessment sessions for completion of comprehensive assessment histories of clients and participates with direct supervisor in development of recommendations.
- Assists in the development, coordination, and evaluation of the treatment program.
- Participates in coordination of community awareness programs concerning problem gambling and substance use,
Schedule:
- Type: Full-time
- Hours: 40+ hours each week. Generally Monday-Friday, with some flexibility available for candidate scheduling needs.
Education and Experience Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in behavioral sciences or related field is required. Candidates with an Associates degree and 3+ years of experience as a substance use or gambling treatment counselor may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
- Current certification as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (tCADC, CADC, or IADC) is preferred, but not required. Candidates must have ability to get certification within 12 months of employment.
