Outdoor Pursuits Guide

Homewood Mountain and Lake Club is seeking an Outdoor Pursuits Guide to join our team! **This is a part-time seasonal opportunity targeting our winter season from December 2023- April 2024 with the opportunity to return the following winter and/or opportunities to support other Discovery Land Company club properties.

The Outdoor Pursuits Team Members are responsible for providing extraordinary experiences and memories for members, guests, and sales prospects while maintaining a safe environment during their visits. Initial responsibilities will focus on leading activities and supporting early programming on the mountain and lake. Activities include and are not limited to: Skiing, Snowboarding, Snowshoeing, Hiking, ATV/UTV Tours, Snowcat Tours, Backcountry Tours, Star Gazing, Axe Throwing, Cornhole, and Kids Activities.

Key Responsibilities

Activities & Pursuits

• Create experiences around the Outdoor Pursuits offerings; educating, guiding, coaching and entertaining participants as appropriate.

• Daily execution of fun and games activities (i.e., Axe Throwing, Archery, Cornhole)

• Staying current on all activities offered and equipment related to Outdoor Pursuits activities.

• Demonstrate or train others in safe and effective usage of all Outdoor Pursuits activities.

Safety & Wellness

• Integrate fun health forward competitiveness into the experience.

• Activity Supervision of all guests, members and staff while ensuring a safe environment.

• Report any safety or maintenance concerns immediately to the Outdoor Pursuits Manager.

• Accompany and supervise members to off-site events and safely transporting them in a company vehicle.

Equipment & Vehicles

• ATV/UTV driving on steep, winding trails on the ridge, and on cart paths around property.

• Safely transport members to and from activities throughout the property in company vehicle, ATV/UTV and using chairlifts.

• When driving a company vehicle (i.e., SUV, ATV/UTV) always maintain compliance with federal and state safety requirements and adhere to the Company’s motor vehicle policy.

Team Responsibilities

• Work with the Outdoor Pursuits Manager to create and innovate amenities and experiences offered by the Outdoor Pursuits Team.

• Attending department meetings and training courses, as necessary.

• Any other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience

• Maintain requirements for AED, First Aid, and CPR certifications.

• Experience in Leadership roles in the Outdoor Recreation Industry, 2+ Years

• Experience teaching skiing / snowboarding, 4+ Seasons • Snow Sports Instructor / Coaching Qualifications (i.e., PSIA-AASI, USSA, USASA, AIARE)

• Experience backcountry touring and snowshoeing in the winter mountain environment.

• Outdoor Pursuit lifestyle, exploring and adventuring in a wide variety of activities

Environmental & Physical

• Able to be outdoors in all types of weather throughout much of the shift

• Hiking moderate distances (2-5 miles) on rough and challenging terrain frequently.

• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and a shift greater than eight (8) hours in length.

• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors, standing, walking, running, moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, heavy lifting, carrying, bending, stooping, squatting, reaching, pushing, and pulling sometimes in excess of fifty (50) pounds.
