- Driving Long Distances: OTR Truck Drivers are responsible for transporting goods over long distances, often across state lines . They must be comfortable with extended periods of driving.
- Ensuring Cargo Safety: OTR drivers must ensure that their cargo is properly secured and protected during transport. This involves inspecting cargo before and after trips and adhering to safety regulations.
- Adhering to Traffic Laws: OTR drivers must obey all traffic laws and regulations while operating their vehicles. This includes speed limits, hours of service regulations, and other road safety guidelines.
- Maintaining Logs and Records: OTR drivers are often required to keep detailed logs of their driving hours, mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents or delays encountered during their trips.
- Vehicle Maintenance: OTR drivers are responsible for performing basic maintenance checks on their vehicles, such as checking tire pressure, oil levels, and ensuring that all lights and signals are functioning properly.
