Form of workRIDGEVIEW, a not-for-profit community mental health center, has an immediate opening for a full-time Certified Young Adult Peer Support Specialist for Anderson County as part of the On Track Anderson Program (OTAP). OTAP serves the needs of Young Adults experiencing first episode psychosis with wrap around mental and behavioral health services. Ridgeview will support the certification process for the right qualified candidate.

REQUIREMENTS
The On Track Anderson Program (OTAP) Peer Support Specialist must have had a “lived experience” in the area of mental health treatment. Must have knowledge of and sensitivity to the needs of youth and Young Adults with serious mental illness, including psychosis. Must have good communication, decision-making, and organizational skills and take an active part in the community in a positive manner. Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent is required, along with basic computer and writing skills. Personal experience with mental health issues and in successfully navigating mental health systems is required. Must be eligible to become certified as a Young Adult Peer Support Specialist (CYAPSS).
JOB DUTIES
On Track Anderson Program (OTAP) Peer Support Specialist works to help clients and their families with skill building, goal setting, problem solving, and utilizing self-help recovery tools. Peer Support Specialist serves as a model for personal recovery. This position is responsible for working specifically with youth and Young Adults (age 15-30) experiencing first episode psychosis utilizing the On Track treatment model. The OTAP Peer Support Specialist gives the client an advocate who can assist them in dealing with the impact of first episode psychosis by providing peer mentoring and support to both them and their families. OTAP Peer Support Specialist must be a true peer; this means that the peer specialist has successfully navigated the mental health system themselves. OTAP Peer Support Specialist will aid the OTAP Team Leader and other OTAP staff in a shared responsibility of supporting the client and family's mental health needs, intervention, service plan goals, linkage with community resources, and discharge planning needs.
