As an on-site client liaison, the OSP Resident/Aerial Staker will perform field engineering and staking duties to produce final outside plant construction plans for FTTx build-outs. Responsibilities include inspection, documentation, and serving as resident engineer for the placement of primarily aerial outside plant facilities.
Key Responsibilities
(include but not limited to):
- Site field surveying & primarily aerial staking of new FTTx infrastructure, with some cross-country aerial staking.
- Coordinating with the client to define specifications & preferred construction methods for FTTx buildout.
- Coordinating with power companies, WV DOH, National Forests, etc., during the permit application process to ensure all plans conform to local & state regulations.
- Coordinating with Construction Project Managers to ensure the timely scheduling of final design deliverables and ordering of construction materials.
- Supervision of 1 or more OSP Designer/Stakers or Inspectors.
- Coverage will include Pendleton and Pocahontas Counties in WV for an estimated 2-year project.
- There will be opportunities for future work for JSI, including for WV clients.
- Often, extensive travel and time away from home is required.
Requirements, Knowledges, Skills
- Experience with OSP Telecom Engineering processes and practices, including practical application in the field, is desired.
- Working experience with Google Earth and CAD programs is desired.
- Working knowledge of RUS standards and terminology is preferred.
- Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for Telecom FTTx OSP construction.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office programs and Visio are beneficial.
- Highly organized, self-starter, and detail-oriented.
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills.
- Superior time management and strong attention to detail.
- Must perform repetitive physical motions of bending, standing, climbing, and walking on uneven terrain. (You will be exposed to various weather conditions).
- Must provide own vehicle but will be paid per mile.
- Overtime is often required.
- This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.
- Training will be offered to the right candidate.
- High school diploma or equivalent experience.
- Local candidate preferred.
