Job Summary:
Assists physician in providing patient examinations, procedures and orthopedic procedures. Assists physician in cleansing wounds, assists in reducing fractures, pin insertions and applications of surgical dressing.
Job Requirements:
Education and Work Experience:
- High School Education/GED or equivalent: Preferred
- Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Preferred
- Experience as a Medical Assistant (MA): Preferred
Licenses/Certifications:
- Orthopedic Technician certification: Preferred
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS-BLS OR RQIBLS) certification: Preferred
- Surgical Technician certification: Preferred
Essential Functions:
- Assists the physician/surgeon with tasks related to bracing, splinting and casting and other procedures as needed. Responds to emergencies and other STAT requests.
- Performs clerical duties. Consults with provider concerning procedures and patient condition.
- Applies, removes and adjusts orthopedic devices (i.e. splints, casts, bandages and slings) under physician supervision/instruction.
- Assembles/disassembles equipment and instrument ensuring that equipment is available for procedures and examinations.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
