Job Summary
The Orientation Coordinator serves as a point of contact for drivers upon joining the company and is expected to provide a pleasant and welcoming environment. This position ensures driver credentials and training are complete prior to dispatch.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Creates, maintains, and enters information into databases.
- Schedules and confirms appointments for drivers, supervisors, or team members, including coordinating travel and hotel arrangements.
- Ensures all DOT and company required paperwork is completed.
- Creates contracts for lease purchase, owner operator, and inside carrier contractors.
- Sends status notifications when equipment is changed.
- Distributes equipment assignments to each orientation location’s new drivers and coordinate existing driver equipment.
- Ensures accurate entries in the driver master and unit master of the database.
- Uses computers for various applications, such as database management or word processing.
- Maintains schedule and calendar events.
- Ensure prior to dispatch that any new driver has a copy of their contract, permit book, required insurance coverage and a completed 7-day off duty log.
- Ensure all new drivers understand DOT regulations as well as company policies and procedures
- Provide general support to team and new employees.
- Organizes and schedules appointments for drivers with various clinics for DOT/Clearinghouse drug testing, if needed.
- Evaluates drivers in orientation to ensure successful completion of orientation
- Completes other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent in education is required.
- Transportation industry experience is preferred, but not required.
- Demonstrated knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems, such as word processing, managing files and records.
- Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
