Job Description
Essential Functions
- Assist in developing protocols and procedures for the Optometry Department - reviewed annually.
- Responsible for the implementation of patient care QA processes for the optometry department through Monthly continuous quality improvement meetings and chart audits.
- Examines eyes of NorthShore Health Center patients and performs various tests to determine visual acuity and perception and to diagnose diseases and other abnormalities such as glaucoma and color blindness.
- Prescribes eyeglasses, contact lenses, and other vision aids or therapeutic procedures to correct or conserve vision.
- Consults with and refers patients to Ophthalmologist or other health care practitioner(s), if additional medical treatment is determined necessary.
- Treats eye problems of children who have trouble reading.
- Participates regularly in necessary administrative meetings,
- Works with clinic management to develop long range plans for NorthShore Health Center’s Optometry Department.
- Ensures compliance with regulations and standards of performance for quality care.
- All other duties assigned by the Director of Optometry
