Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary testing on patients, including taking vital signs, measuring visual acuity, and obtaining patient history
- Assist the optometrist with various procedures and examinations
- Educate patients on contact lens insertion and removal techniques
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as visual field testing and retinal imaging
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in electronic health record system (Epic)
- Handle administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and processing medical billing
- Clean and maintain examination rooms and equipment
-Marinating a smooth flow of patients along with assisting the physician, charting, closing and coding patient's chart.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as an optometric technician or in a similar role preferred
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and ability to maintain patient confidentiality
- Familiarity with pediatric optometry is a plus
- Proficiency in front desk operations and customer service skills
- Strong understanding of human anatomy, particularly the eye and visual systems
- Experience working in a medical office or optical setting is highly desirable
- Ability to accurately measure vital signs such as blood pressure and pulse rate
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems
- Knowledge of medical billing processes
