Job Summary:
In a career as an Imaging & Neurodiagnostic Informatics Specialist, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you will implement and support the information systems (RIS) and the Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS) for the radiology department. Serve as the primary professional radiology staff member responsible for the clinical and operational dimensions of technology to enhance the efficiency in the patient care process. Serve as the Informatics Specialist in other areas of Neurodiagnostics including EEG and the sleep lab.
Schedule: Full-Time, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Monday-Friday
Location: West Hospital
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:

  • Handles activities related to image workflow, archiving, auto routing, and pre-fetching.
  • Trains employees to use PACS applications.
  • Ensures that image data is properly captured and loaded into the PACS.
  • Serves as a liaison to information technology personnel and other health care professionals with respect to radiology information technology and automation, including offsite radiologist group and their PACS/RIS.
  • Researches, troubleshoots, and resolves PACS-related operational problems.
  • Prepares and maintains reports regarding PACS operations.
  • Completes testing required by PACS and RIS vendors.
  • Supports ongoing development, maintenance, and support of hospital electronic health record system, including data reporting, performance improvement, identifying and resolving computer and software-related problems, monitoring reports of problems, coordinating downtime, and participating in quality improvement activities.
  • Works effectively with an inter-disciplinary team to evaluate, plan, design, test, implement, maintain, and support projects and initiatives of the departments and hospital.
  • Create and maintain departmental audits including but not limited to critical results and repeat rates.
  • Train new radiology, EEG and sleep employees how to work in Radiant or Epic.
  • Help with patient care in other areas as needed if ARRT certified.
  • Assist with interface issues in the EEG department and EMG machine.
  • Assist the sleep lab and EEG with Epic problems, upgrades, and training.
  • Work with vendors, Boys Town IT, and radiology staff during downtime. Initiate the proper protocol to report issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in radiologic technology, computer science or related field required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time experience or training in PACS/RIS required.
  • BLS certification required.
