Front Desk Care Coordinator- Optometric Technician
General Job Description & Responsibilities
We are looking for an outgoing, kind, and responsible person to join our team as an Optometric Technician. Our technicians are the heart and soul of our practice and we want our patients to have the best care possible. Experience preferred but for the right individual we are willing to train.
Primary Duties
- Communicating with doctors, staff, and patients
- Answer phone calls, greet patients and schedule appointments
- Educate patients on their insurance coverage and vision benefits
- Obtain insurance authorizations and verification of benefits
- Accurately post charges for exam fees, co-pays, and products sold
- Assist other members of the team as needed to reach individual and team goals
- List all appropriate diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions as directed by the doctor.
- Coordinate patient scheduling and monitor patient flow throughout the office, properly communicating delays
Secondary Duties
- Perform preliminary patient workup
- Perform diagnostic testing
- adjustments and simple repairs for glasses

Experience & Skills
Excellent customer service skills and personal presentation are critical to this role. The ideal candidate will have 1+ years of experience and:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- some college preferred
- Strong multi-tasking and time management skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to do basic math
- Team player with good interpersonal and listening skills
- Passion for self-improvement and continuing education
- Previous experience in medical field preferred but not re- required.
- Previous experience with electronic medical records, preferred but not required
