Optometric Technician

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Optometric Technician to join our team. As an Optometric Technician, you will play a crucial role in assisting optometrists in providing exceptional patient care. Your responsibilities will include conducting various diagnostic tests, preparing patients for examinations, and maintaining accurate records. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:
- Perform preliminary tests on patients, including visual acuity, color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision assessments
- Obtain patient medical history and document relevant information in electronic health record systems
- Assist with contact lens fittings and instructions for proper use and care
- Administer eye drops or medications as directed by the optometrist
- Conduct diagnostic tests such as tonometry (measuring intraocular pressure), visual field testing, and retinal imaging
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure all equipment is properly sterilized and functioning
- Educate patients on proper eye care techniques and provide recommendations for eyewear options
- Assist with front desk duties such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance coverage, and processing payments
- Adhere to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality

Skills:
- Strong knowledge of anatomy and physiology related to the eye
- Proficiency in using electronic health record systems
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Sales skills to assist patients with selecting appropriate eyewear options
- Familiarity with ophthalmology procedures and terminology
