Job description

Dunbar Eye Associates is seeking an Optometric Assistant to join our team. We are an independent optometry practice in Dunbar, West Virginia, serving the greater Kanawha Valley.

No optometry experience necessary. We provide on-the-job training.

We're looking for candidates who are eager to learn a new field and build a career as well as experienced candidates with a demonstrated history of reliable attendance and strong worth ethic.

Job Duties Include

  • Perform pretesting, screening, and diagnostic testing
  • Scribe in the exam room
  • Answer phones and schedule exams
  • Make referrals and coordinate with other provider offices
  • Assist with optical sales and dispensing tasks
  • Train patients how to use contact lenses
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications

  • Strong computer skills and the ability to learn EMR system;
  • Ability to multi-task with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail;
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly, bright, and detail-oriented
  • Strong technical ability

Performance Factors

Attendance and dependability: The employee can be depended on to report to work at the scheduled time and is seldom absent from work. Employee can be depended upon to complete work in a timely, accurate, and thorough manner and is conscientious, about assignments.

Communication and contact: The employee communicates effectively both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals inside and outside the Company.

Relationships with others: The employee works effectively and relates well with others, including superiors, colleagues, patients, and individuals outside the practice.

Knowledge of optometric testing equipment and procedures: After training, the employee is able to operate testing equipment and obtain usable images or measurements for doctors to use for examinations.

The successful candidate will have a high school diploma or equivalent; preference will be given to candidates with college degrees in a relevant field. Competitive pay and benefits. Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.00 - $17.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
