Optics Technician - Assembly, Integration, & Test

Red Canyon Software is looking for a passionate Optics Technician to help develop the future generation of space lasers!

This is an on-site, 4 month contract position (extension possible) where you will be directly involved in helping the program successfully get through production and launch.

The Optics Technician will participate in the areas of handling, characterizing, cleaning, assembling, aligning and supporting optical and opto-mechanical works inside our space lasers. The Optics technician will work closely with the members of the Optics group to support all the functionality of the Terminals and instruments as a key element. 

Duties:

• Support execution of optical assemblies and integration
• Support execution of functional system level tests
• Testing and quality control of received components
• Participate in optical systems characterization and alignment
• Participate in lab equipment maintenance and calibration
• Participate and support opto-mechanical tasks, as test setup assembly, metrology measurements, cleaning of optics, mechanism checks.

Minimum Skills/Education Requirements:

• A technical degree in Physics and photonics/Engineering field (preferably in Optics and/or mechanics) or relevant experience
• Knowledge of optical surface cleaning
• Good command of English and/or Spanish
• Ability to manipulate cleaning agents and chemical products
• Ability to work in an interdisciplinary and international environment
• Comfortable writing technical reports and following procedures in English
• Teamwork spirit
• US Citizen

Preferred Experience/Skills/Ability:

• Knowledge of optical measurement devices (power meters, beam profiler, polarimeter)
• Knowledge of laser source operation and safety
• Some optical lab or mechanical shop metrology experience

• 3 years experience in a similar position
• Spanish speaking a plus
