As an Optician, customer/patient service is priority one! You'll assist patients with selecting and ordering eyewear, adjustments, and fittings, and educating on proper eyewear and contact lens care under the supervision of an Optometrist. Your initiative and organizational skills will keep us running at top performance, while your enthusiasm and knowledge will provide an exceptional patient experience.
Responsibilities- Interprets prescription and helps patients choose appropriate eyewear, consulting with prescribing optometrists, as appropriate
- Takes optical measurements necessary for eyewear preparation
- Orders eyewear from laboratory based on prescription and patient preference
- Submits insurance billing to appropriate insurance companies for materials
- Performs quality inspection of lenses and frames
- Adjusts eyewear to patient using appropriate tools and instruct on cleaning and handling
- Makes any necessary repairs using appropriate parts and tools
- Maintains frame board inventory
- Maintains equipment and inventory of supplies
- High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred
- Five (5) years of previous optical experience
- ABO - NCLE certifications must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- Licensed Dispensing Optician (LDO) is a plus
- Detailed oriented, reliable, and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong computer skills, including Word and Excel
- Bi-Lingual (English / Spanish)
