Job description

Summary / Objective
The purpose of this role is to lead a team of associates and carry out the functions necessary to meet objectives while satisfying the needs of Maine Optometry's patients. To implement and uphold standards in customer service, patient engagement, and associate engagement.
Essential Functions
Optical Duties:
  • Work directly with patients to help meet all of their eyewear needs
  • Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear, and execute these details with accuracy Inspect finished eyewear meets our optical standards, as well as patient requirements
  • Use your expertise to explain prescription terminology and product offerings to customers

Leadership Responsibilities:
  • Reports to the Regional Manager and Optical Director, working together to anticipate staffing needs and oversee training of new associates.
  • Partner with appropriate management and assist in the recruiting, interviewing, and selection of future candidates
  • Manage a team of Opticians by giving and receiving feedback, holding ongoing development conversations, and leading by example on the optical floor
  • Uphold exceptional customer service standards when working with patients and handle patient issues
  • Help to promote a productive, safe culture in the office and leverage company resources to increase associate engagement and job satisfaction
  • Ensure all eyewear jobs are accounted for and patients are communicated with in a timely manner
  • Partner with OD's to improve and enhance patient experience
  • Maintains and demonstrates knowledge and understanding of patient privacy rights under HIPAA guidelines.
  • Maintains regular in-person attendance
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • A strong leader and mentor who exhibits model behavior, improves optical metrics, and adheres to optical standards
  • ABO certification or minimum of 5-7 years of optical experience. Experienced troubleshooter with an abundance of patience and great listening skills
  • Minimum 2 years of management, leadership, or supervisory experience
  • Ability to operate with a high sense of professionalism and open-mindedness when making decisions on behalf of the team
  • Passionate about patient care
  • A clear and effective communicator-the ability to break down technical terms for patients to easily understand
  • Dedicated to going above and beyond to make patients and associates happy
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of prioritizing tasks and responsibilities for yourself and your team in a fast-paced, ever-changing work environment
  • Open availability including a 5 day work week, available for monthly/quarterly meetings outside of office hours, and availability for events and trunk shows.
  • Available to travel to other locations as needed
