Optical Sales Associate

Full-time Optical Retail Salesperson Job Summary:

The Optical Retail Salesperson will assist customers with purchasing and fitting optical frames, and help with administrative duties as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• None.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Greets and interacts with patients and optical customers.
• Consults with customers to understand their needs and preferences related to merchandise.
• Demonstrates and explains merchandise, selecting and suggesting options suitable for the customers needs and style.
• Answers customer's questions about merchandise.
• Assists customers with purchase decisions.
• Retrieves merchandise from the sales floor, stock room, or other inventory locations.
• Places orders for specialty prescription lenses or assists with making lenses in our lab.
• Fits patients for glasses.
• Collects payment using the store point of sale system.
• Assists in retail visual merchandising displays.
• Performs some administrative duties as assigned such as answering phones and scheduling appointments when needed.

• Ability to learn about merchandise as well as HIPAA laws and regulations.

• Ability to recommend merchandise to customers.

• Ability to operate or to quickly learn the store's point-of-sale system.
• Must be a people person and work well with others. This is not a work from home position.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous retail experience required.
• Some optical experience preferred but not required.
• On-the-job training provided for the right candidate.

Physical Requirements:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the retail space.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
