Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Optical Manager to join our team. As an Optical Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our optical department. You will work closely with the optometrists and opticians to ensure efficient and high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in optical management and possess excellent leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

- Manage the day-to-day operations of the optical department

- Supervise and train optical staff, including opticians and technicians

- Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, including HIPAA

- Maintain inventory of eyewear, contact lenses, and other optical supplies

- Assist patients in selecting appropriate eyewear and ensure accurate fitting

- Coordinate with insurance companies for billing and reimbursement purposes

- Collaborate with optometrists to provide comprehensive eye care services

- Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and issues in a professional manner

- Stay up-to-date with advancements in optical technology and industry trends

Skills

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills:

- Strong knowledge of medical terminology related to eye care

- Experience working with senior care patients is a plus

- Proficiency in using Epic or similar electronic health record systems

- Understanding of basic physiology related to vision and eye health

- Proven sales skills to effectively promote eyewear products and services

- Familiarity with aseptic technique for maintaining cleanliness in the optical department

- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and confidentiality

- Familiarity with medical coding for accurate billing and reimbursement processes

- Experience working with pediatric patients is preferred
