JOB DESCRIPTION
As an Optical Lab Manager, you will work in a collaborative environment with a team that is responsible for quantitative and subjective camera and display Quality Evaluation.
- Lab Development
- Design, develop, build, and enhance the lab test fixtures/platforms based on the project requirements in a fast-paced product development environment.
- Design the test based on the requirements of the image scientist and software development engineers.
- Automate tests to optimize the test accuracy, consistency, and efficiency.
- Explore the new lab equipment and integrate new equipment into existing and new systems.
- Oversee and conduct experiments related to imaging technologies and optics, including, but not limited to, cameras, sensors, optics, near-eye displays, and image processing.
- Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to develop and implement imaging projects and methodologies.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in imaging technologies, contributing insights to ongoing projects.
- Lab Management & Maintenance
- Manage the Imaging Lab, including equipment setup, maintenance, and calibration to ensure optimal functionality.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and maintain a clean and organized lab space.
- Train and mentor lab staff, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
- Collaborate with external partners and vendors for equipment sourcing and maintenance.
- Handle lab equipment and supplies selection, validation, and purchase.
- Lab Test
- Lead the test team and adjust the test engineer’s workload based on the project priorities.
- Conduct hands-on experiments and measurements, ensuring precision and accuracy in data collection.
- Design test methods and validate and regulate test procedures. Compose test plan and detailed instructions for test engineer training purposes and team documentation.
- Create and maintain test engineer training programs for internal and external teams.
We are seeking an enthusiastic junior hands-on analog/audio electrical engineer in the Bay Area. In this role, you will work with the team responsible for the definition, architecture, design, implementation, and integration of the audio subsystem in consumer electronics hardware products. You will qualify best-in-class audio silicon, develop proof of concepts and prototypes, support system board schematic and layout, prototype bring up and debugging, production manufacturing and test support, hardware debugging, functional and performance verification, SW/FW verification, and signal characterization. You will support work on the schematic and assist the PCB layout engineer in routing the circuits. It’s a benefit if you’re familiar with the audio design of portable low to mid-power products but you should have a track record of building consumer electronics at high volume.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- BA or MA in Optical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- 10 years’ experience in camera testing and software quality assurance.
- Broad knowledge of Image Signal Processing (ISP) pipelines, Image Quality Tests, Imaging Hardware Evaluation, Automated Test Equipment, Device Lifecycle Tests, and Test Scene Innovation.
- Understanding of camera calibration and image quality tuning.
- Proven quantitative analysis and documentation skills.
- Experience with global vendor collaboration.

WE OFFER
The annual salary range for this role is $80,000 – $250,000 per year.
The Annual Salary depends upon various job-related factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs, and market demand. This range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
