What you'll do:
•Manage productionwithin the Surface department by planning, directing, coordinating, andcontrolling activities of employees all while ensuring quality goals andcustomer needs are met.
•Oversee allSurface employees and production within the Lab placing an emphasis onproductivity, quality, and effectively preparing for growth.
•Lead and directdepartment supervisors across multiple production shifts.
•Monitor,schedule, and maintain production activities by coordinating employees,equipment, and customer demand.
•Plan and delegatedaily assignment to employees to ensure on-time product delivery.
•Ensure propertraining and cross-training is provided to employees on all processes andequipment, and ensure standard operating procedures are followed.
•Ensure proceduresare being followed for production efficiency, safety, and compliance withcompany and state/federal regulations and guidelines.
•Maintenance ofall Surface equipment
•Monitor productionand quality goals and act when improvement is needed.
•Run productionand breakage reports and discuss with team leaders.
•Evaluate workflowprocesses, then recommend and implement procedural and system changes todeliver a high-quality product.
•Monitorperformance of direct reports and provide prompt and objective coaching inaccomplishing goals and in job performance. Write and conduct performance reviews,reward, and discipline employees.
•Participate ininterviewing and hiring process for open positions within the department toensure the most qualified candidates are selected; training once hired.
•Monitorattendance, vacation, and hours worked of employees.
•Coordinatemanpower requirements by increasing or decreasing personnel and approve overtimeto meet changing conditions.
•Troubleshootbreakage to determine the root cause and put measures in place to eliminaterepeat inefficiency.
•Run reports andback up the DVI servers at the end of the day.
•Assist in anyarea of Surface when needed.
•Must be on callfor the night shift if an issue occurs.
Qualifications:
•Bachelor's degreepreferred. A combination of education and experience may be accepted in lieu ofbachelor's degree.
•5 -7 yearsoptical manufacturing experience preferably in Surface (Blocking, Generating,Fining, and Polishing)
•2 - 4 yearsmanagement experience
