Position Summary
The Paraoptometric Technician works under the direct supervision of the Optometrist. They assist the Optometrist in a variety of patient care tasks, including preparation of patients to be seen by the optometrist, performance of diagnostic testing, and appropriate documenting in patient charts. The candidate has the opportunity to grow professionally through levels of certification:
Paraoptometric Technician (PO) Entry Level
Certified Paraoptometric (CPO) Level I
Certified Paraoptometric Assistant (CPOA) Level II
Certified Paraoptometric Technician (CPOT) Level III
Certification is obtained through on-the-job training and studying after hours. It is maintained through annual continuing education requirements.

Main Performance Objectives
- Greet patients with a great attitude, introduce self and uses the patient’s name throughout the entire experience.
- Prepare patients for eye and vision examinations and assist with various diagnostic tests.
- Provide ancillary testing to assist the optometrist’s examination of patients.
- Assists the doctors in the room with scribing notes, processing refill requests, I&R training, and processes patient referrals.
- Transition patient care to the Optical Gallery.
Secondary Performance Objectives
- Able to assist with faxing, copying, making phone calls, preparing patients’ medical records, scanning.
- Maintain Records.
- Protects patients’ rights (HIPAA) by maintaining confidential personal and financial information.
- Follow company policies and procedures.
- Assists in the file room and assists with pulling or filing away charts.
- May be required to perform other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
- GED or High School Diploma required.
- Minimum (2) years of professional experience (Preferred)
- Current State Driver’s License & Clean Driving Record required.
- Experience working with team members across multiple functional roles (Preferred)
- Bilingual English/Spanish; verbal and written proficiency required.
- Basic math skills required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to spend prolonged periods of time standing, sitting, or walking.
- Must be able to lift at least 25lbs.
- Perform work with OSHA required PPE, Including COVID19 PPE

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.84 - $25.10 per hour
