Summary/Objective
The Ophthalmic Phlebotomist Assistant supports the needs of the Retina team with focus on the fluorescein angiography process at the Elmhurst, Naperville and South Barrington locations to ensure a positive experience and clinical outcome for our patients. This role requires strong phlebotomy skills including starting IVs and blood draws. This role is an part-time entry level position with opportunity for growth within our Retina sub-specialty at Kovach Eye Institute.
Essential Functions
- Responsible for the assistance of injecting contrast medium utilizing a butterfly needle while starting IV infusions of Ophthalmic drugs
- Responsible for the capturing of retinal imaging to aid in diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders
- Serves as a back-up for any needs of the Retina team
- Serves as a back-up for any needs of the Retina team
- Secures patient information and maintains patient confidence by completing and safeguarding medical records, completing diagnostic and procedure coding, and keeping patient information confidential
- Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures along with complying with legal regulations

Travel Required
- Weekly travel between multiple Chicagoland offices is expected (Elmhurst, South Barrington, Naperville and Lincolnwood)
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Phlebotomy certification
Additional Experience Preferred (but not required)
- Spanish and or Polish Speaking
- CPR/ ACL certification
