Ophthalmic Laser Assistant
Envision Surgery Center is a new ambulatory surgery center in West Allis, WI which specializes in ophthalmology care. Our elite team is seeking a full-time and or part time Ophthalmic Laser Assistant to work Monday – Thursday and occasional Friday morning.
Job Summary
The Ophthalmic Laser Assistant performs technical tasks that support the nursing staff in all areas of the center, including pre and post op. The primary focus is for assisting in the delivery of efficient, timely care to the patients of our center through assisting the clinical staff.

The essential duties for this position are:
  • Provides basic nursing care and performs a variety of procedures under the direction of a RN.
  • Prepares Ophthalmic laser/lasik patients for laser procedure
  • Preps laser chart prior to patient arrival, admits patients, vitals, and assists physician in the Ophthalmic Laser /lasik room.
  • Manages the laser schedule and monitors for any overlapping conflicts, communicates issues and concerns to management prior to scheduling conflicts
  • Works in an efficient manner during heavy patient schedule.
  • Willing to help in other areas as assigned.
  • Assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment and promotes positive customer relations.
  • Participating in the patient care team to admit patients into the pre-op area, including initial vital signs and documentation, general assist in the preoperative preparation of patients.
  • Act as customer service rep and assist patients and their families during their wait
  • Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients/others regardless of age or ethnic background.
  • Cross trained to fill in and perform all other job duties as appropriate.
  • Communicate with other health care team members to assure continuity of care.
  • Assists with the orientation of new personnel.
  • Other duties as may be necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
  • Assists with stocking of supplies and linens
  • Assists with patient ambulation and transfer to surgical chair.
  • Assists with transfer of patient from OR to post-op if needed.
  • Decontamination of supplies (BP cuffs, glucometer, IV pole, monitor cables, EKG cables as per policy.
  • Performs related duties as required.
  • Escorts patients to their car

Education:
  • High school graduate or equivalency
  • Nursing and or Medical assistant experience
