Location: Taconic Biosciences is seeking an Operations Trainer to join our dedicated Learning & Development team. This role will support the Rensselaer, NY and Germantown, NY sites.
The Pay Range: $59,000 - $65,000. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors. These factors include, but are not limited to, geographic location, experience, training, education, and local market conditions, with this the upper end of the range is not always likely to be offered.
The Schedule: Monday - Friday, typically 8am - 4:30pm. Some flexibility available.
The Role: The Operations Trainer will collaborate with team members to align training best practices and assist with aligning global processes within operations. This important role will work to create training for the Animal Care position as well as routinely supporting training and re-training efforts including, but not limited to, Animal Quality, Environmental Health & Safety, Genetics, annual regulatory events, SOPs and more. They will document and monitor training metrics, collaborate globally to work to improve retention and training methods utilized at Taconic, lead the sites onboarding program and be a welcoming, supportive, and approachable team member to our new hires and colleagues across Taconic.
Duties of the Operation Trainer include the following:
Occasional travel is required, generally 2-5 trips per year.

Duties of the Operation Trainer include the following:
- Assess knowledge and skill levels of all animal care staff and deliver hands-on one to one training in accordance with a standard program.
- Assist with developing, maintaining, and adjusting the global training program.
- Routinely providing transparent communication to site leadership on trainee goals and progress as well as how the learner is being supported.
- Provide support for onboarding of new hires.
- Incorporate effective learning solutions, using various methods including one-on-one coaching, on-line self-paced classes, and more.
- Create and administer valid tests including electronic, virtual, and in-person demonstrations of competency.
- Consolidate, re-write, and simplify SOPs.
- Assist with development and maintenance of Learning Management systems for the scheduling, delivery and tracking of Operations Training.
- Some physical exertion is required such as long periods of standing, recurring bending and lifting, and/or lifting of items up to 25 pounds. Walking, standing for long periods of time, regular use of computer monitor, managing supplies, maintaining equipment.
- Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school, or technical/managerial experience at an equivalent level.
- Minimum 4 years relevant experience and/or training
- Experience in developing and leading projects
- Previous supervisory experience a plus
- The ability to communicate with all levels of an organization both written and verbally.
- An enjoyment of communication and public speaking
- The ability to actively listen and understand information from people with different communication styles and different points of view.
