This position will be filled as an Operations Technologies Infrastructure Engineer I or II based on candidate qualifications. Salary ranges are as follows:
Operations Technologies Infrastructure Engineer I: $60,819.20-$92,726.40
Operations Technologies Infrastructure Engineer II: $70,585.20-$109,387.20
Operations Technologies Infrastructure Engineer I
Performs design, testing, implementation, maintenance, support and training of the distributed computing environment. Provides support to an environment including intel based compute, compute hypervisors, file/block storage, Windows operating systems and a wide range of infrastructure applications such as Active Directory, database services, and numerous business applications. Ensures availability, security and performance. Performs problem identification and creates solutions to address defects/misconfigurations. Researches and proposes infrastructure and security solutions in accordance with departmental standards.
Operations Technologies Infrastructure Engineer II
Performs design, testing, implementation, maintenance, support and training of the distributed computing environment. Applies infrastructure expertise in designing and recommending solutions to complex infrastructure challenges. Provides support to an environment including intel based compute, compute hypervisors, file/block storage, Windows operating systems and a wide range of infrastructure applications such as Active Directory, database services, and numerous business applications. Ensures availability, security, and performance. Performs problem identification and creates solutions to address defects/misconfigurations. Researches and proposes infrastructure and security solutions in accordance with departmental standards. Serves as Subject Matter Expert in two or more technology domains. Performs the role of Project Manager for small to mid-size projects. Mentors less senior staff members and develops, teaches and helps enforce proper infrastructure standards and methodologies. Prepares and delivers presentations to management and end-users.
Operations Technologies Infrastructure Engineer I
Applies broad, distributed, infrastructure-related skills in support of project teams and broader business goals. Provides technical guidance, recommends/deploys solutions and supports technical standards. Supports the day-to-day Operations Technologies operation of MSD's infrastructure solution portfolio, which includes a wide range of business services and applications. Deploys resilient systems while ensuring incidents and problems are expeditiously classified, prioritized and remedied. Builds strong, mutually respectful relationships with other MSD divisions, including Information Technology and Engineering, to facilitate broad cooperation, mutual support, economies of scale, efficiencies and team learning. Approaches job duties with security in mind. Builds and maintains secure/available solutions supporting security audits, vulnerability scans, efficient backups and timely recoveries. Stays up-to-date with technological developments and advancements.

Knowledge of Microsoft-based server engineering/administration in a virtualized (VMware ESXi and Hyper-V) environment; knowledge of IP networking technologies including MS Active Directory's role in providing DNS and DHCP services; knowledge of ITIL procedures such as Change Management, Incident Management and Continuity Management; skill in operating a PC and associated Windows environment software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite); skill in managing vendors and suppliers to ensure they provide services and SLAs as contracted; skill on oral and written communication; ability to increasingly operate in and support a hybrid-cloud environment; ability to assess and harden security configurations for operating systems, infrastructure applications and services; ability to adapt to a changing work environment; ability to exercise judgment and discretion; ability to work in a team environment; ability to resolve problems; ability to maintain confidential information; ability to work under heavy surges in workload and deadline pressure.
