Job TitleOperations Supervisor - New OrleansLocationNew Orleans, LA Department Acadian Ambulance FLSA Status Exempt Shifts hiring Full-time, Night Shift

Job Summary: Provide immediate supervision of employees, stations, units and spare units in assigned area to ensure quality patient care and transportation of the sick and injured in accordance with local, state, national and Acadian Ambulance standards of practice. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities: Except as specifically noted, the following functions are considered essential to this position.

  • Supervision, training, scheduling and evaluation of employees by working on a sprint unit as needed.
  • Respond to accidents and disasters while working on an assigned sprint truck; act as first responder as needed.
  • Oversee completion of all logs and time sheets; ensure compliance with medical reporting requirements. Conduct internal medical audits. Obtain signatures as requested.
  • Coordinate equipment routing to units and stations. Monitor condition of mainline and spare units.
  • Monitor performance issues including AMPS, refusals, on-scene times, AllSafe reports, station maintenance.
  • Act as liaison between management and field personnel. Communicate policy changes, post memos and distribute information as needed.
  • Assist operations manager with marketing efforts. Visit hospitals and other medical facilities to promote positive community and business relations.
  • Investigate customer-call inquiries related to customer service, operational and clinical performances.
  • Must be able to make independent decisions concerning the safety of EMS employees and to act decisively when necessary to ensure patient care, public safety and employee safety are not compromised.
  • Participate in goal setting and strategic planning.
  • Participate in disaster drills, monthly staff meetings, community meetings.
  • Special projects or other assignments/duties as deemed necessary by operations manager/VP.
  • Qualifying candidate must have previous experience as a Paramedic Field Supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Experienced paramedic with strong organizational skills required
  • Previous supervisory experience or demonstrated leadership ability
  • CCT certification and successful completion of the NIMS 300 course are preferred
  • Graduation from or participation in ACES program preferred
  • PALS certification preferred
  • National and/or State certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic determined by appropriate state requirements
  • Current CPR certification as established by the American Heart Association
  • Current ACLS certification as established by the American Heart Association
  • Current and valid state-issued driver's license determined by appropriate state requirements (equivalent of a Louisiana Class "D" driver's license)
  • Must have a good driving record
  • Must be able to drive large vehicles in normal and adverse conditions
  • Must have personal computer skills
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate professionally and effectively with employees and managers
  • Must possess the ability to write simple correspondence or reports
  • Must possess the ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees and/or managers
  • Must be knowledgeable of company protocols, operational procedures and safety policies

  • Must have a sense of urgency for all work performed.
