Job Summary:
The Salesperson/Guide is a versatile team member who performs dual roles, both as a guide for our tours in the majestic Grand Canyon and as a sales specialist in our office. This unique hybrid position is perfect for someone passionate about sharing the wonders of the Grand Canyon with visitors, as well as ensuring they have the best tour experience possible from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities:
Guide Duties:
- Conduct guided tours of the Grand Canyon, providing in-depth information about its geology, history, flora, and fauna.
- Ensure the safety of all participants by adhering to established safety procedures and protocols.
- Adapt tour content based on the audience, ensuring that information is both engaging and suitable for all ages and backgrounds.
- Address any questions or concerns from participants promptly and professionally.
- Maintain and report any equipment or supply needs.
- Assist with the training of new guides as required.
Sales and Office Duties:
- Welcome guests and provide detailed information about available tours, catering to their specific interests and needs.
- Handle inbound inquiries via phone, email, and in-person, converting them into bookings.
- Maintain accurate records of all sales and bookings using our reservation system.
- Process payments, issue receipts, and manage cancellations or modifications as necessary.
- Keep abreast of current promotions, pricing, and discounts.
- Assist with daily administrative duties, such as inventory management, data entry, and office upkeep.
- Participate in regular sales and product training to continuously improve selling skills and stay updated on tour offerings.
Required Qualifications:
- Previous experience in sales or customer service is highly beneficial.
- Familiarity with the Grand Canyon or a strong willingness to learn.
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Fit and capable of handling the demands of outdoor guiding.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing schedules and demands.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with booking/reservation systems.
Desirable Qualifications:
- First Aid and CPR certifications.
- Previous experience in outdoor guiding or tourism.
- Bilingual or multilingual abilities.
